Riata Remund Death – The Arnold, Nebraska, community is rallying around 19-year-old Riata Remund after she was seriously injured in a head-on collision in Valley County on Sunday afternoon.
According to information provided by Valley County Sheriff Dave Scheideler, the crash occurred on Highway 70 approximately 2½ miles west of Arcadia. Riata was transported by air to a hospital in Kearney for treatment of very serious injuries.
Emergency responders were called to the scene at approximately 3:15 p.m. Sunday after reports of a head-on collision involving a pickup truck and an SUV.
The vehicles involved were a 3/4-ton Dodge pickup and a 2019 Chevrolet Blazer.
According to the preliminary investigation described by Sheriff Scheideler, Riata, who was driving the Chevrolet Blazer, was traveling westbound when her vehicle drifted into the oncoming lane.
The Blazer subsequently collided with the Dodge pickup being driven by Joshua Hougnon of Denver, Colorado.The collision left Riata with very serious injuries.
Emergency crews responded to the scene and arranged for her to be transported by air to Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, where she received medical treatment.
